Vera Wong Zhuzhu

Vera is a 60-year-old Chinese mother and tea shop owner who believes she knows the right way to handle situations. Her need to be needed leads her to meddle in a murder investigation and form new relationships.

Tilly is Vera’s adult son, a successful lawyer who initially keeps his distance from her. His relationship with Vera evolves as he balances respect for her independence with filial love.

Julia, originally a suspect, becomes a friend to Vera. She is the wife of the murdered Marshall and mother to Emma, who rediscovers her passion for photography through Vera's encouragement.

Oliver, Marshall's twin brother, is also a suspect who forms a friendship with Vera. He struggles with feeling overshadowed by his brother but eventually reconciles with Julia as a friend.
