The Saad reaches the slushy waters of Págos, the air so cold that it can be felt even through the thick layers of clothing that the crew wears. Elian wears the necklace around his neck, and they enter Págos on foot. They are met by the drums of Págese warriors, along with the King Kazue of Págos and his brothers. Each of the princes wears a different arctic animal headdress, and the king wears a snow lion. Elian thanks them for coming to greet him, and the king reveals that Sakura, Princess Yukiko, has come to greet him as well. Elian is confused by her presence and worried that she’s already informed her brothers of their engagement. She reveals that she flew to Págos on an airship designed by their allies the Eférvesic, beating Elian to her homeland. Lira threatens Yukiko, warning her not to get in her way, and Elian apologizes on Lira’s behalf so as not to anger the king. King Kazue asks Elian to meet with him in the palace.
Elian meets with the royal family in the grand hall of the palace. The King and his brothers ask what they will get in exchange for Yukiko giving Elian the map, and Elian presents them with the necklace.
