Roma and Juliette visit the White Flowers’ secret laboratory to give Lourens the vial with the vaccine. Juliette is impressed by the state-of-the-art lab since the Scarlet Gang does not believe in modernization. Benedikt and Marshall arrive at the lab at the same time, carrying the unconscious Nationalist soldier who has the madness. Lourens runs tests on the patient, but he cannot find anything wrong with her vitals. Juliette suggests that he cut open the women’s head and remove the insects manually. He tries this, but it causes the woman to have a seizure and die. The insects in her head stream out and burrow into Lourens’s beard, but Roma quickly chops off part of his friend’s beard, saving him from the bugs.
Juliette promises Roma not to share what she learned about the White Flowers’ secret lab with her family. While Lourens examines the vial holding the vaccine, Juliette gets into an argument with Marshall, who strikes her. Juliette fights back, almost stabbing Marshall, but he laughs. She realizes he was joking. Lourens shows Juliette some of his inventions, including a poison that makes someone appear as if they are dead. She secretly steals this concoction. Lourens cannot figure out much about the vial but determines that it contains lernicrom, the drug that Walter Dexter has been trying to sell to the Scarlet Gang.
