Having bathed, eaten and received medical treatment, Thomas sits on a couch and looks at his surroundings, still unable to trust what is happening. He is shocked that he made such a bold stand against David, and wonders what will come of it. Teresa joins him, and though he does not want to talk to her about what has happened, he tries to pretend as if everything between them is alright. He is taken aback by Teresa’s pronouncement that they will do whatever WICKED tells them to do. Thomas tells her that he will not, that after everything they have gone through, he cannot blindly follow WICKED or trust it. He notes how passive everyone is, and sees that they are once again being duped into submission, seemingly unaware how easily this false sense of security can be ripped from them. He marvels at Teresa, who has fallen asleep so easily on the couch next to him, but eventually he falls asleep as well.
