The Perfect Son

The police come to interview Liam, interrupting the Casses’ dinner. Erika asks the detectives if her son needs a lawyer, and they say it’s unnecessary. Liam agrees to talk to the detectives with his parents present, despite already having spoken to a different police officer at school. He tells the police that Olivia is in his math class and that he last saw her at the diner. As the police leave, they reveal that a neighbor saw Liam and Olivia in her backyard at 2 am the night she disappeared. They ask if he’d like to change his answer regarding when he last saw her, and Jason interrupts, telling the police that Liam will not speak to them anymore without a lawyer.

After the police leave, Jason and Erika ask Liam what happened. He explains that he went to see Olivia, but that they only made out. Erika and Jason send Liam to his room. Jason says they need to get Liam a lawyer. When Erika is upset that Liam was at Olivia’s house before her disappearance, Jason gets frustrated that Erika thinks Liam hurt Olivia. Erika remembers what Liam said about wanting to keep his wife in a hole. Jason says she’s overreacting and spends the rest of the night looking for a lawyer.
