The Night We Lost Him

Nora realizes that Elliot must have been Grace’s cardiologist. He knew more than he was saying, and he’d once made a cryptic comment about ethics getting in the way of telling Nora more. Grace’s death had been a massive blow to Liam, and it was because of it that he considered selling the company. She was sure in that moment that he’d meant to leave Noone Properties to Grace and that the last-minute changes to his will before his death had come about because of her death.

Nora calls the company lawyer, Jonathan, and asks for more information. He agrees to talk to her but claims that he cannot speak then. Suddenly, someone comes up stealthily behind Nora. She is standing on the cliff and thinks of her father. It’s Sam. She tells him that Grace is at the heart of the family’s mystery.

Nora and Sam go to see Joe. Now that they know more of the story, Joe fills in the details for them. He explains that Liam had only ever really loved Grace and that he offered her a job at Noone right after he bought the company. He wanted to help her into a career path that would make use of the writing skills she cherished and the kind of work she could have done if she hadn’t been forced to quit her graduate program.
