Zahra catches a bad cold and stays home from work on their second day back from New York. Rowan invites her to stay with him, but her condition worsens, and a distressed Rowan calls a doctor. The doctor suspects that she has viral pneumonia and recommends that she be hospitalized. As Rowan walks the doctor out, Zahra gets up to try to find her phone and call her parents, but she becomes light-headed and passes out on the way to the bathroom.
After hearing a thump, Rowan runs upstairs to find Zahra passed out over the threshold of the bathroom, bleeding after hitting her head during her fall. He calls 911 and accompanies her to the hospital, telling himself that he is just like his father, giving in to his feelings for a woman and forgetting the rest of his life. He now believes that his feelings for her have made him weak. He asks a nurse to put Zahra in a private room, but her question about insurance reminds him that he has made sure that all Dreamland employees have bad insurance.
