Ann Brashares is an American author known for her best-selling YA fiction novels. At 34, Brashares published her debut novel, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The novel was a critical and commercial success, earning top reviews from Kirkus and Publishers Weekly. It went on to become a bestseller and was highlighted as one of the best teen books of the year by The American Library Association.
Brashares went on to expand The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants into a series, publishing four sequels: The Second Summer of the Sisterhood (2003); Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood (2005); Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood (2007); and Sisterhood Everlasting (2011). The series follows friends Carmen, Tibby, Lena and Bridget from adolescence into adulthood.
