Ophelia Grimm is the 23-year-old protagonist of Phantasma. Her eyes are initially turquoise, like those of her sister Genevieve, but after she absorbs her mother Tessie’s magic, Ophelia’s eyes turn vibrant blue. As the eldest Grimm sister, Ophelia is responsible for carrying on the family legacy of necromancy. After she completes the ritual following her mother’s death, Ophelia can wield magic and see ghosts. Like Genevieve, she is also a Specter and inherits Specter abilities from her father Gabriel. As both a Necromancer and Specter, Ophelia has unique magical abilities that help her within Phantasma.
Ophelia lives with obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, which often manifests as an entity she calls the Shadow Voice. The Shadow Voice tells her that tragedy will befall her or those she cares about if she does not complete certain actions. The Shadow Voice also commands her to harm herself or others, though she does not obey these commands. Much of Ophelia’s character arc involves her journey to accepting herself and the Shadow Voice. She often feels insecure because of the Shadow Voice’s influence in her life, thinking, “Something about it had always deeply embarrassed her.
