Rufus

Rufus is the protagonist and narrator of *Rufus*, a journalist determined to find a story that will elevate his career. He volunteers to search for the kidnapped Isabel Floode to work alongside his idol, Zaq. Rufus is deeply guilty about his past absence during his sister Boma's personal tragedies.

Zaq is a renowned journalist known for his unique human-interest stories. Though at the end of his career, he agrees to join the search for Isabel Floode. He becomes a mentor to Rufus, who begins to notice Zaq's flaws as their journey unfolds.

Tamuno is an elderly guide helping Rufus and Zaq navigate the Niger Delta. He is deeply concerned for his son Michael's future, wishing for him to have more opportunities in the city of Port Harcourt.
