Character Analysis

Dahlia Muñoz

Dahlia Muñoz is one of the protagonists and narrators of Love Redesigned. She grew up in the small town of Lake Wisteria, Michigan, with her mother, Rosa, her father, and her sister Lily. She also grew up alongside her mother’s best friend’s family, including her childhood nemesis, Julian Lopez, with whom she would compete at everything. When she was 16, Dahlia witnessed her father die in an ambulance and felt tremendous grief, which she dealt with by distracting herself with preparations for college.

At 18, Dahlia went to Stanford with Julian, where the distance from their hometown and their past caused them to grow closer. They shared a kiss and appeared to be heading into a romantic relationship when Julian’s father died suddenly. Julian left Stanford shortly afterwards. Dahlia felt cut off from Julian, who pushed her away and denied her even a friendship when she wanted to console him. After Julian left, his roommate Oliver Cresswell convinced Dahlia that Julian wasn’t worth feeling sad about. The two began dating and stayed in California.

Dahlia had always been interested in design, and Oliver pushed her to make it a career. The two had a TV show where they renovated houses, and Dahlia released many collections of furniture and design products.
