2. Harry feels amazed, excited, and curious because it is the first he has ever received mail. When his uncle keeps the letters from him, Harry becomes even more determined to get the letters. (Chapter 3)
Chapters 5-8
Reading Check
Short Answer
1. Mrs. Weasley explains that he must run at the barrier between platforms nine and ten, then he follows the Weasley family. (Chapter 6)
2. It is full of magic, including a ceiling made to look like the sky outside with a spell, ghosts as characters, food that magically appears on the table, and portraits with subjects that speak. (Chapter 7)

Short Answer
1. Quidditch is a sport in which two teams on flying brooms try to get a ball through goal posts while avoiding bludgers (which come flying at them in an attempt to prevent them from scoring). The seekers look for a much smaller ball (the Golden Snitch) and try to catch it to end and win the game. (Chapter 10-11)
2. Professor McGonagall yells to him, ordering him to follow her, which makes Harry think he is in trouble. Instead, she introduces him to the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team saying he should be the new seeker. (Chapter 9)
3. Harry jumped on the troll and Ron cast a spell that caused the troll to lose control of his club, which dropped on the troll’s head. Hermione told the teachers the boys were helping her to help keep them all out of trouble. (Chapter 10)
