The stranger is Deacon St. Delphi, Aiden’s younger brother. He immediately flirts with Alex, but after learning her name, he admits he already knows about her. As they walk through the party, they encounter Lea, who flirts with Deacon. Alex, curious about their relationship, asks Caleb if they are romantically involved. Caleb denies it but mentions that there are growing efforts to fight against the Breed Order.

Kain interrupts their conversation, explaining that his role is to supervise the pure-bloods and half-bloods at the party. He also shares significant political developments, noting that the Tennessee half-bloods have petitioned to join the Council, and South Dakota appears sympathetic to their cause. However, North Carolina remains firm in adhering to the old ways, and New York, as the seat of the main Council, is slow to implement any change.

During the party, Jackson, Lea’s former boyfriend, approaches Alex, and they talk. The two remain close throughout the night, which visibly irritates Lea. While many attendees decide to continue the celebration at Myrtle Beach, Alex declines. She also grows increasingly uncomfortable with Jackson’s persistent advances.
