Henry and Halle hang out on New Year’s Eve. He notices she’s blushing while writing her novel. They discuss the scenes she’s working on and how her dating experience is affecting the story. Afterward, they go to the hockey house to celebrate with their friends. Before midnight, everyone shares their resolutions. At midnight, Henry and Halle kiss and tell each other how happy they are to be together.
Henry encourages Halle to go to the doctor when she gets sick. Since she won’t go, he drives her to his moms’ house. Halle is nervous to meet Henry’s mama Maria, but Maria is kind and welcoming. She gives Halle a checkup and assures them Halle’s condition isn’t serious.
In the car afterward, Halle tells Henry more about her familial relationships. Halle explains the responsibilities she took on as the eldest daughter and the ways her friendship with Will helped her at the time.
After Halle gets better, she notices how stressed Henry is about hockey. She’s particularly worried about him because he’s playing Will’s team in the upcoming game. Halle’s family is coming into town for the event and Henry’s worried about meeting them, too. They spend the afternoon talking and Henry paints to calm down.
